Trading Cards & Crests to Share The Flavor

Coffee tasting notes exist to give customers an idea of what to expect with each different roast. However, if you’re not familiar with tasting notes, or coffee in general, they’re not always a direct indicator of what you’re going to enjoy. For this project, Salt Foundry was tasked with creating a coffee tasting notes design that would showcase the flavors in a visual way. We created a set of trading cards that listed out all the coffee facts, as well as showcased images from their farm of origin when possible. In addition, we also approached the coffee notes design in a more old school style. To capture the essence of each flavor, we designed a unique coffee crest for each roast. These coffee crests utilized a large set of icons to display the same info as the trading cards. In Practice, the crests would be used on the packaging as a quick reference for customers. The colors and icons would signal the taste and overall style of the coffee beans. In addition, the trading card would be available for customers to take with them, whether they purchased a bag of coffee or just wanted to collect them all. Every new roast would also come with a new release of the trading cards.
